The students loved their Tica families!

Amazing

We went on a sky canopy tour today called Extremo. We went ziplining between mountains with drops of over 1000 feet! I´ve never heard so much screaming in my life, but it was the most AMAZING thing to look down and see these breathtaking green lush valleys. Afterwords, we ate lunch and shopped at a co-op where artisans and women from Monteverde sell their wares. The kids are great--they all get along very well and are pleased with their Tica families. I feel very fortunate to be their ¨chaperona¨!

Trapiche and Oxcarts

Yesterday, we visited a sugar cane farm where we rode in an oxcart and made candy. This morning we had a great time playing ultimate frisbee.

Monday

We spent the morning in the cloud forest near Monteverde where we saw the respendent quetzal, a magnificant bird with a red breast and a long green tail, hummingbirds, and a sloth! We had lunch in Santa Elena, a nearby town, and the students settled into their classes in the afternoon.

As everyone arrived at the airport, apprehension have way to excitement and energy. We spent the night at a beautiful 5 star hotel called the Condesa. One surprising thing--it was bright outside at 5:30 this morning. I just want to find out what the birds look like that were singing us to sleep!
